Homecoming '11

It’s back! Homecoming weekend is upon us and ready to take campus by storm.  There will be a considerable number of activities in which to partake, as well as the opportunity to meet many alumni who will be on campus for the event, including Boston Bruins star Rich Peverley ’04 and Christian Lopez ‘10, who managed to catch Derek Jeter’s 3,000th career hit.

St. Lawrence’s last official Homecoming Weekend was in 1996.  The Alumni Counsel hopes to put its best foot forward in reestablishing this St. Lawrence tradition.  The Homecoming event will not take the place of Reunion Weekend, but rather serve as another opportunity for alumni to return to campus.

The festivities kick off today at 3 p.m. when the top two Bantam teams of Ontario, the Mississauga Terriers and the Gloucester Rangers, face off at center ice in Appleton Arena. While at the game, don’t forget to catch up with Rich Peverley, who will be meeting and signing autographs for fans and friends in the main lobby of Appleton from 4:45- 5:30 p.m.  At 6:00 p.m. there will be a Pep Rally in the Burkman Gymnasium to start off the beginning of a promising Homecoming Weekend.  Following the Pep Rally, be sure to wear white, and make your way back to Appleton for the “white out” at the men’s hockey game versus Union.

On Saturday, wake up early and get to the tailgating themed brunch at Dana Dining Hall!  Amp yourself up and get ready for the football game and swim meet both at 1:00 pm.  While you are in the vicinity, there will be a book discussion with Bob Graham ’61 at 3:00 p.m., discussing his book GO SAINTS! The Saga of St. Lawrence University Hockey 1912-2001. To top off the athletic events for the weekend, the men’s hockey team will be hosting RPI at 7 p.m. in Appleton Arena.
