This artist of the week is Alex Duane ‘12. Below, he explains the process that went into creating this striking piece.
In this photograph, I was exploring human primal expressions within a formal cultural context. A lot had led up to this particular photograph, beginning a year earlier in 2009 while I was on the Adirondack Semester. I was inspired to capture the raw, wild emotions that humans are capable of. During that time, I took many photographs of Silas Streeter yelling in the woods, but it wasn’t until we were on the marble and the oriental carpets that it seemed fitting.
