Student Artist of the Week: Alex Duane

November 10, 2011 James Melville No Comments

This artist of the week is Alex Duane ‘12. Below, he explains the process that went into creating this striking piece.

In this photograph, I was exploring human primal expressions within a formal cultural context. A lot had led up to this particular photograph, beginning a year earlier in 2009 while I was on the Adirondack Semester. I was inspired to capture the raw, wild emotions that humans are capable of.  During that time, I took many photographs of Silas Streeter yelling in the woods, but it wasn’t until we were on the marble and the oriental carpets that it seemed fitting. Lizzie Bogosian ‘10 is on the couch.
